Removal Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Important:
- The door locks use the fork bolt lock design which includes a safety interlock feature. The door is secured in a closed position when the door lock fork bolt engages the striker. Rotate the lock knob rearward in order to unlock the door from the inside.
- Replace the door lock if it is faulty. Do not attempt to repair.
- Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door .
- Remove the rear door water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door
- Use side cutters in order to remove the lock-to-rod clip which secures the rear door outside handle rod to the rear door lock.
- Discard the lock-to-rod clip.
- Remove the rods from the rear door inside handle.
- Remove the rods from the lock-to-rod clip.
- Remove the door lock screws (1, 2, 3) which secure the rear door lock to the rear door.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear door lock.
- Remove the rear door lock with the inside handle rods attached.
- Remove the rear door handle rods from the rear door lock.
