Park Brake Warning
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The body control module (BCM) activates the park brake audible warning with the associated chime frequency at a fast rate and at a continuous duration. The park brake warning sounds and the brake system indicator illuminates when the following occurs:
- The ignition is ON.
- The vehicle is not in park or neutral. The BCM receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the gear position.
- The BCM determines that the park brake is engaged and the signal circuit is low. The BCM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting illumination of the brake system indicator.
