Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Engine Electrical.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
  3. Reposition the inlet surge tank hose clamp from the surge tank use J 38185  .
  4. Remove the inlet surge tank hose from the surge tank.

  5. Reposition the outlet surge tank hose clamp from the surge tank use J 38185  .
  6. Remove the outlet surge tank hose from the surge tank.

  7. Remove the surge tank nuts.
  8. Raise the surge tank.
  9. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the coolant level sensor.
  10. Remove the surge tank.

  11. Inspect the surge tank retainer mounted to the shock tower stud, replace if necessary.
  12. If replacing the surge tank, remove the coolant level sensor.
