Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- If diagnostic system check was not performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . If diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step.
- Install scan tool. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe INSIDE TEMP SENSOR parameter in HEATING and AIR CONDITIONING list. If scan tool indicates INSIDE TEMP SENSOR parameter is within .09-4.9 volts, problem is intermittent. If scan tool does not indicate INSIDE TEMP SENSOR parameter is within .09-4.9 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect inside air temperature sensor. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe INSIDE TEMP SENSOR parameter. If scan tool indicates INSIDE TEMP SENSOR parameter is greater than 4.9 volts, go next step. If scan tool indicates INSIDE TEMP SENSOR parameter is less than 4.9 volts, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition off. Connect 3-amp fused jumper wire between signal circuit of inside air temperature sensor and ground circuit of inside air temperature sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe INSIDE TEMP sensor parameter. If scan tool indicates INSIDE TEMP SENSOR parameter is less than .09 volts, go to step 8. If scan too indicates INSIDE AIR TEMP parameter is greater than .09 volts, go to step 6.
- Check signal circuit of inside air temperature sensor for a short to ground. Repair wiring as necessary. If wiring is okay, go to step 9.
- Check signal circuit of inside air temperature sensor for a short to voltage, high resistance, or an open circuit. Repair wiring as necessary. If wiring is okay, go to next step.
- Check ground circuit of inside air temperature sensor for high resistance or open circuit. Repair wiring as necessary. If wiring is okay, go to step 9.
- Check for poor connections at harness connector of inside air temperature sensor. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, go to step 10.
- Check for poor connections at harness connector of HVAC control module. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, go to step 11.
- Replace inside air temperature sensor. See INSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to step 12.
- Replace HVAC control module. See HVAC CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to next step.
- Clear DTCs. Operate vehicle. Check for DTCs. If DTC B0337 is still present, go to step 2. If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
