Removal & Installation

Disconnect negative battery cable. Disable SIR system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Tilt column to center position. Place column in neutral position. Pry Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) actuator from mounting pin on steering column jacket assembly and outer shift cable ball stud on cable shift cam. Disconnect harness connector from actuator. To install, reverse removal procedure. Adjust BTSI actuator. See BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR under ADJUSTMENTS.
