Test Y: High Beam Indicator Inoperative

NOTE: For circuit identification, see HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.

If lighting system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If lighting system diagnostic system check has not been performed, see LIGHTING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - CORVETTE article. After performing lighting system diagnostic system check, go to next step.
Turn headlights on. Turn ignition on. Select high beams by pulling back on turn signal lever. If high beam indicator comes on, problem may be intermittent. To diagnose intermittent, go to INTERMITTENT TROUBLE CODE DETERMINATION in BODY CONTROL MODULES - CORVETTE article. If high beam indicator does not come on, go to next step.
Turn headlights off. Turn ignition off. Locate 23-pin connector C209. C209 is located on left side of steering column, attached to lower instrument panel bar. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe connector C209 terminal "K" (Light Green wire). Turn headlights on. Turn ignition on. Select high beams. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 5 .
Check for poor connections at IPC. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 7 . If connections are okay, go to step 6 .
Repair poor connection or open in Light Green wire between connector C209 and IPC connector terminal A2. See Figure . After repairs, go to step 7 .
Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
Recheck system operation to verify the repair. If system operates properly, repair is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step 2 .
