Removal (2.4L)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: To avoid personal injury when rotating serpentine belt tensioner on 2.4L use a tight fitting 13 mm wrench that is at least 24" long.
NOTE: Generator does not require periodic lubrication. Rotor shaft is mounted on bearings. Each bearing contains a permanent grease supply. Periodically check mounting bolts for tightness, and drive belt tension. Drive belt is self-adjusting, within operating limits of tensioner. The CS-130D generator is serviced a complete unit.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Remove drive belt.
  3. Remove generator mounting stud and bolts. See Fig 1.
  4. Remove generator electrical connections.
  5. Remove generator assembly.
