Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the cable to the vehicle through the cowl and the carpet.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the cable grommet in the cowl.
  3. Install the range select lever cable at the automatic transmission control.

  4. Install the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor in Body - Instrument Panel and Console.
  5. Install the range select lever cable to the cable bracket.

  6. Install the range select lever cable to the selector lever.

  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. Adjust the cable.
    1. Place the shift lever in N (Neutral). Rotate the selector shaft clockwise from P (Park) through R (Reverse) into N (Neutral).
    2. With the shift control assembly in N (Neutral) lift the cable connector locking clip up.
    3. Push the clip on the cable connector until fully seated and flush with cable body.
