Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the temperature control cable to the HVAC control assembly.
  2. Snap the cable flag to the base of the HVAC control assembly.
  3. Snap the die cast end form over the lever post.
  4. Install the cable cover.
  5. Install the cable to the temperature door lever. See Figure.
    6. NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  6. Install the cable flag and screw to the HVAC module assembly.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the HVAC control assembly. Refer to HVAC Control Assembly Replacement (Chevrolet)  or HVAC Control Assembly Replacement (Pontiac) .
  8. Install the I/P trim plate. Refer to TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY (CHEVROLET) or TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY (PONTIAC) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
