Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the I/P trim plate. Refer to TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY (CHEVROLET) or TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY (PONTIAC) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Disconnect the mode control cable from the mode door lever.

  3. Remove the cable flag retaining screw.
  4. Remove the HVAC control assembly. Refer to HVAC Control Assembly Replacement (Chevrolet)  or HVAC Control Assembly Replacement (Pontiac) .
  5. Release the flag from the mode base using the release tab.

  6. Remove the flag.
  7. Remove the cable end form from the lever post.
  8. Remove the temperature control cable.
