Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disable the SIR system, if equipped with Side Impact Air Bags (SIAB). Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM and to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
  2. Remove the front seats. Refer to SEAT REPLACEMENT in Seats.
  3. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to SEAT CUSHION REPLACEMENT - REAR in Seats.

  4. Remove the front seat belt anchor bolts form the floor pan.
  5. Remove the seat belt anchor plate from the floor pan.
  6. Remove the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - FRONT FLOOR in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  7. On the coupe, remove the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR QUARTER  .
  8. On the sedan, remove the lower rear quarter trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR QUARTER LOWER  .
  9. Remove the floor carpet retainers. Refer to CARPET RETAINER REPLACEMENT (SEDAN)  or CARPET RETAINER REPLACEMENT (COUPE)  .
  10. Remove the floor carpet.
