Removal Procedure

CAUTION:
When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zones. Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
- Disable the SIR system, if equipped with side air impact bag (SIAB). Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM or to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
- Remove the front bucket seat. Refer to SEAT REPLACEMENT .
- With a flat-bladed tool remove the lumbar knob from the actuator, if equipped.
- Remove the lumbar actuator from the cushion frame, if equipped. Refer to LUMBAR REPLACEMENT - FRONT SEAT (PONTIAC) .
- Unfasten the lumbar cable from the cushion frame, if equipped.
- Unfasten the wire harness from the cushion frame for the SIAB, if equipped.
- Remove the outer trim panel from the seat cushion. Refer to SEAT CUSHION OUTER TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the front bucket seat recliner bolts (6).
- Remove the front bucket seat back pivot bolt (3).
- Remove the front bucket seat back (1) from the front seat cushion (5).
