Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the recliner to the seat.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the recliner bolts (1,2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the seat back pad and cover to a desired appearance.
  4. Install the EZ entry adjuster cable (4) to the seat adjuster (3).
  5. Install the EZ entry adjuster cable (4) to the adjuster cable bracket (5).
  6. Fasten the J-hook retainer located next to SIAB module, if equipped.
  7. Fasten the J-hook retainer located at the bottom of the seat back cover.
  8. At the bottom of the seat back (1) install the lateral release knob to the recliner. Press the lateral release knob till fully seated on the recliner.
  9. Install the outer trim panel on the seat cushion. Refer to SEAT CUSHION OUTER TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT  .

  10. Install the front bucket seat. Refer to SEAT REPLACEMENT - PASSENGER FRONT EZ ENTRY  .
  11. Reposition the seat back (1) to the original position.
  12. Check seat back recliner for proper operation.
  13. Enable the SIR system, if equipped with SIAB. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM or to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
