Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zones. Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
  1. Disable the SIR system, if equipped with side impact inflatable restraints. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM or DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
  2. Remove the driver front bucket seat. Refer to SEAT REPLACEMENT  .
  3. Disconnect the seat belt wire harness.

  4. Remove the tie bar bolts (1) from the seat adjuster tie bar (2).
  5. Remove the seat adjuster tie bar (2) from the seat adjuster.
  6. Remove the cross wire (3) from the seat adjuster.
  7. Remove the seat adjuster return spring (3) from the seat adjuster.
  8. Remove the bolts (1) from the right seat adjuster (2) and the left seat adjuster (5).
  9. Remove the seat adjusters (2,5) from the front bucket seat.
