Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

A clear waterproof sound deadener deflector is used to seal the door inner panel and prevent entry of water into the body. The deflector is secured to the door inner panel with pressure-sensitive adhesive located on the outboard surface of the deflector. This allows the deflector to be peeled back as needed, to service the door components.

  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE FRONT DOOR (PONTIAC)  or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE FRONT DOOR (CHEVROLET)  .
  2. Remove the front door radio speaker (5), if sedan. Refer to SPEAKER REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR in Entertainment.
  3. Remove the armrest bracket (3). Refer to ARMREST BRACKET REPLACEMENT  .
  4. Disconnect the power rear view mirror electrical connector, if equipped.
  5. Pull the water deflector from the door.
