Removal Procedure

IMPORTANT:
For the removal of the rear door assembly, perform steps 15 thorough 21.
- Open and support the rear door.
- Open the front door.
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE REAR DOOR (PONTIAC) or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE REAR DOOR (CHEVROLET) .
- Remove the water deflector. Refer to WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR .
- Remove the inside handle. Refer to DOOR HANDLE REPLACEMENT - INSIDE .
- Remove the window regulator. Refer to WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (POWER REGULATOR) or WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (MANUAL REGULATOR) .
- Remove the energy absorber. Refer to ENERGY ABSORBER PAD REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR .
- Remove the outside door handle. Refer to DOOR HANDLE REPLACEMENT - OUTSIDE .
- Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - DOOR .
- Remove the door lock. Refer to LOCK REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR .
- Remove the door window. Refer to WINDOW REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR .
- Remove the rear stationary window. Refer to WINDOW REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR STATIONARY .
- Remove the rear door reveal molding. Refer to REVEAL MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR WINDOW .
- Remove the rear door electrical harness through the opening in the rear door.
- Remove the carpet retainer. Refer to CARPET RETAINER REPLACEMENT (SEDAN) or CARPET RETAINER REPLACEMENT (COUPE) in Interior Trim.
- Using a grease pencil, mark the location of the rear door hinges to the rear door.
- Remove the rubber conduit from the center pillar.
- Disconnect the rear door harness electrical connector.
- Route the rear door harness electrical connector through the opening in the center pillar.
- With an assistant, remove the rear door hinge to rear door bolts.
- With an assistant, remove the rear door from the vehicle.
