Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Open and support the front door.
  2. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE FRONT DOOR (PONTIAC)  or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE FRONT DOOR (CHEVROLET)  .
  3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR  .
  4. Remove the front door speaker. Refer to SPEAKER REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR in Entertainment.
  5. Remove the inside door handle. Refer to DOOR HANDLE REPLACEMENT - INSIDE  .
  6. Remove the outside door handle. Refer to DOOR HANDLE REPLACEMENT - OUTSIDE  .
  7. Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - DOOR  .
  8. Remove the rear view mirror. Refer to MIRROR REPLACEMENT  .
  9. Remove the front door window. Refer to WINDOW REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR  .
  10. Remove the window regulator. Refer to WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR (POWER REGULATOR)  or WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR (MANUAL REGULATOR)  .
  11. Remove the window outer belt sealing strip. Refer to SEALING STRIP REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR WINDOW BELT OUTER  .
  12. Remove the front door window channel, front side rear. Refer to WINDOW CHANNEL REPLACEMENT - FRONT SIDE REAR  .

  13. Remove the front door window channel and weather-strip. Refer to WINDOW CHANNEL REPLACEMENT - DOOR  .
  14. Remove the lock assembly. Refer to LOCK REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR  .
  15. Remove the front door electrical harness through the opening in the front door.
  16. Remove the carpet retainer. Refer to CARPET RETAINER REPLACEMENT (SEDAN) or CARPET RETAINER REPLACEMENT (COUPE) in Interior Trim.
  17. Disconnect the rubber conduit from the A-pillar.
  18. Disconnect the front door harness electrical connector (3).
  19. Route the electrical harness through the opening in the A-pillar.
  20. Using a grease pencil, mark the location of the front door hinges on the door side.
  21. With an assistant, remove the door side hinge bolts.
  22. With an assistant, remove the front door from the vehicle.
