Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise the window to the full UP position.
  2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE FRONT DOOR (PONTIAC)  or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE FRONT DOOR (CHEVROLET)  .
  3. Remove the door water deflector in order to access the door handle rod. Refer to WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT DOOR  .
  4. Remove the lower window channel retainer. Refer to WINDOW CHANNEL REPLACEMENT - FRONT SIDE REAR  .
  5. Use a small flat-bladed screwdriver in order to remove the outside handle rod (2) from the door lock assembly.
  6. Remove the outside handle rod (2) from the outside handle (1).
  7. Remove the outside handle rod (1).
