Removal Procedure

- Open the rear compartment lid.
- Pull back and remove the rear compartment trim as required. Refer to COMPARTMENT TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR in Body Rear End.
- Remove the fasteners that attach the rear fascia to the quarter panel.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the screws from the rear fascia in the rear wheel opening.
- Remove the center pins on each of the four retaining tabs to release the retaining tabs from the lower center of the rear fascia.
- Perform the following steps to remove the rear fascia:
- Put down a protective cover to prevent damage to the rear fascia.
- With the aid of an assistant, pull both corners of the rear fascia away from the quarter panel.
- Pull the rear fascia from the center of the rear impact bar.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear fascia.
- Remove the rear license plate lamp socket and bulb. Refer to LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (SEDAN AND COUPE) or LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (SUNFIRE GT) in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the rear fascia brackets from the rear fascia.
