Removal Procedure

CAUTION: BATTERY DISCONNECT CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION in cautions and Notices.
  2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
  3. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENT  .
  4. Drill out the locking button (2) on the rear of the housing assembly (1) using an angle drill.
  5. Remove the ignition lock cylinder (1) by pulling outward from the steering column.

  6. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the ignition lock cylinder (1).
  7. Remove the metal shavings from the steering column and ignition lock housing assembly.
