Drum Brake Hardware Inspection

  1. Visually inspect the drum brake system hold-down springs and pins for the following: Excessive corrosion, damaged or bent locating pins or weak spring tension.
  2. Visually inspect the return springs, the return/adjuster actuator springs, and the park brake lever return spring for the following: Excessive corrosion, excessive stretching, broken hook ends or twisting or binding.
  3. If any of the conditions listed were found, the drum brake system hardware requires replacement.
