Drum Brake Adjusting Hardware Inspection

  1. Visually inspect the adjuster actuator spring for the following: Excessive corrosion, excessive stretching, broken hook ends, twisting or binding.
  2. If any of the conditions listed were found, the drum brake system adjuster hardware requires replacement. Inspect the adjuster assemblies for the following: Binding motion and/or a seized condition, damaged and/or excessively worn adjustment teeth or damaged and/or excessively worn anchor slots.
  3. If any of the conditions listed were found, the adjuster actuator lever and/or attaching hardware requires replacement.
