Hydraulic Brake System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Perform Diagnostic System Check - Hydraulic Brakes before using the hydraulic brake symptom tables in order to verify that all of the following are true: There are no DTCs set. The control modules can communicate via the serial data link. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Perform the Brake System Vehicle Road Test before using the hydraulic brake symptom tables in order to duplicate the customer's concern. See BRAKE SYSTEM VEHICLE ROAD TEST  under TESTING. Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions.

Inspect for aftermarket devices which may affect the operation of the brake warning system. Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which may cause the symptom.

Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions.
