Wheel Cylinder: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Clean any dirt or foreign material around the wheel cylinder assembly inlet and pilot.
  2. Remove the brake pipe from the wheel cylinder. Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting end in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination. Plug the open brake pipe end.
  3. Remove the brake drum. Remove the brake shoes. See BRAKE SHOES . Remove the wheel cylinder bolts. Remove the wheel cylinder.
