Wheel Cylinder: Installation

  1. Install the wheel cylinder. Install the wheel cylinder bolts. Tighten the wheel cylinder bolts to 15 ft lbs. (20 N.m).
  2. Install the brake pipe to the wheel cylinder. Tighten the brake pipe nut to 17 ft lbs. (23 N.m). Install the brake shoes. See BRAKE SHOES .
  3. Adjust the rear drum brakes. See DRUM BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION. Install the brake drum. Bleed the wheel cylinder and then the complete brake system. See BLEEDING .
  4. Adjust the park brake system. See PARKING BRAKE . Install the tire and wheel assembly. Lower the vehicle.
