Vacuum Brake Booster: Removal

- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Disconnect the battery cables and remove the battery. Remove the relay center push in retainer. Disconnect the relay battery feed cable from the upper air cleaner cover retaining clips. Position the relay center away from the air cleaner assembly. Remove the push in retainer from air cleaner assembly to the battery tray. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
- Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts. Remove the master cylinder from the booster. Move the master cylinder and the EBCM/BPMV forward just enough in order to clear the studs on the vacuum booster. This flexes the brake pipes slightly. Do not bend or distort the brake pipes.
- Remove the vacuum hose from the vacuum check valve. Remove the booster retaining nuts. Remove the left lower instrument panel. Remove the booster pushrod from the brake pedal. Tilt the entire vacuum booster slightly in order to work the booster pushrod off the pedal clevis pin without putting undue pressure on the pushrod. Remove the booster from the vehicle.
