Park Brake Lever Assembly: Installation

  1. Ensure that the pawl spring is engaged with the notch on the ratchet. Install the front parking brake cable to the lever assembly and secure the cable conduit fitting into the lever assembly. Install the front parking brake cable button to the ratchet. Install the parking brake lever assembly and the shift assembly. Install the attaching nuts. Tighten the nuts to 18 ft lbs. (25 N.m). Connect the electrical connector.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Pull on the front parking brake cable at the rear of the vehicle in order to release the pawl spring from the notch on the ratchet. Remove the safety stands. Lower the vehicle.
  3. Fully apply and release the hand brake 4-6 times in order to activate the self adjust system. Install the console. Install the front floor console by guiding the shift boot over the optional shift knob and over the emergency brake handle. Install the bolts to the front floor console. Lower the armrest.
  4. Install the optional center storage pocket. Press into place until fully seated. Install the optional power window switch plate. Install the front screw cover. Press into place until fully seated. On vehicles with manual transmission, attach the snaps on the shift boot.
