Brake Hose (Rear): Installation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the brake hose into the hose mounting brackets. There should not be any kinks in the hose. Align the hose fitting with the notch in the bracket. Use the hose paint stripe as a visual aid.
- Install the retainer clips and onto the hose fittings at the brackets. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting in order to connect the brake pipe to the brake hose. DO NOT bend the bracket or the pipe.
- Tighten the brake pipe fittings. Tighten the fittings to 20 ft lbs. (27 N.m). Install the rear tire and wheel. Lower the vehicle.
- Ensure that the hose does not make contact with any part of the suspension. If the hose makes contact, remove the hose and correct the condition. Bleed the hydraulic brake system.
