Fluid Leaks

  1. Before performing procedure, review visual/physical inspection. See VISUAL/PHYSICAL INSPECTION  .
  2. Verify that power steering fluid leaks are present. If leaks are present, go to next step. If no leaks are present, system is okay.
  3. Inspect the power steering system fittings. If fittings are leaking, go to step  7 . If fitting are not leaking, go to next step.
  4. Inspect the power steering hoses. If hoses are leaking, go to step  8 . If hoses are not leaking, go to next step.
  5. Inspect the power steering pump and the reservoir for leaks. If power steering pump or reservoir are leaking, go to step  9 . If power steering pump or reservoir are not leaking, go to next step.
  6. Inspect the power steering gear for leaks. If power steering gear is leaking, go to step  10 . If power steering gear is not leaking, go to step  11 .
  7. Tighten the fittings. After completing repair, go to step  11 .
  8. Replace the power steering hoses. After completing repair, go to step  11 .
  9. Replace the power steering pump or reservoir. See POWER STEERING PUMP  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After completing repair, go to step  11 .
  10. Replace the power steering gear. See RACK & PINION ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After completing repair, go to next step.
  11. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
