Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  3. Remove the steering wheel inflatable restraint module. Refer to AIR BAG MODULES .
  4. Remove the steering wheel nut (1).

  5. Remove the steering wheel using the J 1859-A  .

  6. Remove the steering wheel (2) from the steering column (3).
