Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Disassemble (Off Vehicle): Disassembly

  1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  3. Remove the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
  4. Remove the trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  5. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  6. Inspect the steering column for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle .
  7. Install the steering column and J 41352  into a vise.

  8. Remove all wire harness straps from the wire harness assembly.

  9. Remove the retaining ring.
  10. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil down lead from the wire restraint clip (3).
  11. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (1).
  12. Remove the wave washer (2).
