Ignition Switch Assembly - Disassemble (Off Vehicle): Disassembly

  1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  3. Remove the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
  4. Remove the trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  5. If necessary, remove the multifunction switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal & Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle .
  6. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  7. Inspect the steering column for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle .
  8. Install the steering column and J 41352  into a vise.
  9. Remove the 2 tapping screws.
  10. Remove the ignition switch assembly.
