Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the lower control arms. Refer to LOWER CONTROL ARM REPLACEMENT .
  2. Lower the vehicle on to the front crossmember support.
  3. Install the front suspension crossmember mounting bolts.
    1. Tighten the left rear outboard bolt to 110 N.m (71 ft lbs).
    2. Tighten the right rear outboard bolt to 110 N.m (71 ft lbs).
    3. Tighten the front upper bolt to 110 N.m (71 ft lbs).
    4. Tighten the rear inboard bolts to 110 N.m (71 ft lbs).
  4. Install the front suspension support brace. Refer to FRONT SUSPENSION SUPPORT BRACE REPLACEMENT .
  5. Remove the mechanic's wire or equivalent, and install the power steering gear mounting bolts.
  6. On vehicles with the brake pipe running along the support frame, install the brake pipe into the retainers.
  7. Install the tie rods to the steering knuckle.
  8. Install the ball joints to the steering knuckles.
  9. Connect the ABS harness to the lower control arms.
  10. Install the front exhaust pipe.
  11. Install the engine strut to the lower engine mount and frame.
  12. Install the front fender liners.
  13. Install the tire and wheel assemblies.
  14. Bleed the power steering system.
