Assembly Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the coil spring and upper shock mount to the J 45400  .
  2. Turn the spring compressor forcing screw (1) until the coil spring is compressed.

  3. Install the shock bumper and shield to the shock absorber.
  4. Install the shock absorber to the coil spring and upper shock mount.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the shock shaft retaining nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the strut mount nut to 75 N.m (63 lb ft).

  6. Remove the shock absorber assembly from the J 45400  .
  7. Install the shock absorber assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
