Clutch Pedal Hard To Push

  1. Did you review the clutch symptom operations and perform the necessary inspections? If yes, go to next step. If not, see VISUAL/PHYSICAL INSPECTION  .
  2. Check the clutch pedal in order to ensure that it is properly lubricated. Does the clutch pedal need lubricating? If yes, go to next step. If not, go to step  4 .
  3. Lubricate the clutch pedal. Is the pedal still hard to push? If yes, go to next step. If not, repair is complete.
  4. Inspect the clutch hydraulic line for blockage or crimping. Is the hydraulic line blocked or crimped? If yes, go to next step. If not, go to step  6 .
  5. Replace the clutch hydraulic line. See CLUTCH MASTER & ACTUATOR CYLINDERS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, repair is complete. If not, go to next step.
  6. Inspect the clutch master cylinder for binding. Is the clutch master cylinder binding? If yes, go to next step. If not, go to step  8 .
  7. Replace the master cylinder. See CLUTCH MASTER & ACTUATOR CYLINDERS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, repair is complete. If not, go to next step.
  8. Inspect the clutch actuator for binding. Is the clutch actuator binding? If yes, go to next step. If not, go to step  10 .
  9. Replace the clutch actuator. See CLUTCH MASTER & ACTUATOR CYLINDERS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, repair is complete. If not, go to next step.
  10. Inspect the clutch disc for wear. Is the clutch disc worn? If yes, go to next step. If not, system is operating normally.
  11. Replace the pressure plate and clutch disc. See CLUTCH ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If yes, go to next step. If not, inspect for proper lubrication to the clutch pedal assembly and inspect for the hydraulic lines for blockage or crimping. Also inspect for worn or damaged parts on the master cylinder or the wrong type of fluid and inspect the clutch disc for worn or damaged parts.
  12. Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition? If yes, repair is complete. If not, return to step  2 .
