Clutch Assembly: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, and 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Position clutch disc and pressure plate assembly onto flywheel. Using Clutch Arbor (J-29074), center clutch disc.
  2. When installing new pressure plate, align "X" stamped on flywheel assembly with paint mark on pressure plate. Using sequence identified in illustration, install and tighten pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts evenly to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . See Fig 3 . Lubricate inside diameter of bearing with grease. Bleed power steering system. See POWER STEERING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM  under BLEEDING.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Check transaxle fluid level. Add fluid as necessary. See SERVICING - M/T article in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS.

  1. Position clutch disc and pressure plate onto flywheel. Using Clutch Arbor (J-29074), center clutch disc.
  2. When installing NEW pressure plate, align "X" stamped on flywheel assembly with paint mark on pressure plate. Using sequence identified in illustration, install and tighten pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts evenly to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . See Figure . Lubricate inside diameter of bearing with grease. Bleed power steering system. See POWER STEERING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM  under BLEEDING.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Check transaxle fluid level. Add fluid as necessary. See SERVICING - M/T article in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS.
