Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Install compressor mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten compressor mounting bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  2. Install new sealing washers on the compressor ports. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  3. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly to the compressor.

  4. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 11 N.m (8 lb in).

  5. Connect the compressor electrical connector.

  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Install the drive belt on the A/C compressor.
  8. Release the drive belt tensioner.
  9. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  10. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using the J 39400-A  .
