Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Align the retractor locating tabs to the openings in the rear shelf.
  2. Install the retractor to the rear shelf.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the retractor bolt (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

  4. Install the retractor anchor plate to the floor pan.
  5. Install the retractor anchor plate bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

  6. Install the rear seat cushion, if necessary. Refer to Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear in Seats.
  7. Install the rear window panel trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Window Shelf in Interior Trim.
  8. Check the rear seat retractor belt for proper operation.
