Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the steering knuckle (4) to the vehicle.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Connect the lower ball joint to the steering knuckle.

    Tighten:  Tighten the ball joint nut to 59 N.m (43 lb ft).

  3. Install the bolts (3) and the nuts (6) attaching the steering knuckle (4) to the strut (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts (6) to 180 N.m (133 lb ft).

  4. Install the hub and bearing assembly. Refer to Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Front .
  5. If the vehicle is equipped with ABS, connect the ABS electrical connector.
  6. Install the tie rod to the steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.
  7. Install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  8. Inspect the front wheel alignment. Refer to Measuring Wheel Alignment in Wheel Alignment.
