Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the I/P trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory (Pontiac) or Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory (Chevrolet) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Disconnect the temperature control cable from the temperature door lever.

  3. Remove the cable flag retaining screw.
  4. Remove the HVAC control assembly. Refer to HVAC Control Assembly Replacement (Chevrolet)  or HVAC Control Assembly Replacement (Pontiac) .
  5. Use the tab to release the flag from the HVAC control assembly.

  6. Remove the temperature control cable.
