Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. 3:  Tests for a short to battery positive on the Passlock™ battery voltage circuit.

1 Did you perform the Theft Deterrent Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Select the body control module display DTCs function on the scan tool.
Does the scan tool display DTC B2948 as a current DTC?		 Go to Step 3  Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems
3  With a scan tool command the Passlock™ power output control ON and OFF.
Does the Passlock™ power parameter change states?		 Go to Step 7  Go to Step 4 
4 Test the Passlock™ battery voltage circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 10  Go to Step 5 
5 Inspect for poor connections at the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 10  Go to Step 6 
6 Inspect for poor connections at the Passlock™ sensor. Refer to and Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 10  Go to Step 8

IMPORTANT: When replacing the BCM, refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
Replace the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 10  -
8 Replace the Passlock™ sensor. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement (Without Key) or Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement (With Key) in Steering Wheel and Column.
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 9  -
9 Perform the Passlock™ learn procedure. Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components .
Did you complete the repair?		 Go to Step 10  -

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
Does the DTC reset?		 Go to Step 3  System OK
