Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the wire harness from the compartment lid applique. Refer to Compartment Lid Applique Replacement - Rear (Pontiac Sedan/Chevrolet - All) .
    2. IMPORTANT: Do not detach the remote release cable from the compartment lid latch.
  2. Remove the compartment lid latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid .
  3. Remove the rear lid spoiler. Refer to Spoiler Replacement - Rear (Pontiac)  or Spoiler Replacement - Rear (Chevrolet) .
  4. With an assistant remove the rear lid lock cylinder. Refer to Lock Cylinder Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid .
  5. With an assistant remove the compartment lid hinge bolts (1) from the rear compartment lid (3).
  6. With an assistant remove the compartment lid (3).
