Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in SIR.
  3. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  4. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement (Without Key)  or Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement (With Key) .
  5. Remove the ignition switch assembly (3) from the steering column (1).
