Enabling Procedure

  1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  2. Connect the inflatable restraint I/P module inline connector located under the instrument panel, left of the steering column.

  3. Install the CPA to the inflatable restraint I/P module inline connector.

  4. Install the AIR BAG fuse to the LH I/P wiring harness junction block.

  5. Install the LH I/P outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Chevrolet) or Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Pontiac) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  6. Staying well away from both air bags, turn ON the ignition.
    1. The AIR BAG indicator will flash 7 times.
    2. The AIR BAG indicator will then turn OFF.
  7. Perform Diagnostic System Check - SIR  if the AIR BAG indicator does not operate as described.
