Diagnostic System Check

- Review description and operation information to help you determine the correct symptom diagnostic procedure when a malfunction exists. See DESCRIPTION & OPERATION . If review of description and operation has been performed, go to next step.
- Connect scan tool to DLC. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Attempt to establish communication with PCM. If scan tool communicates with PCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with PCM, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 SERIAL DATA LINK in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Select the POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE DISPLAY DTCs function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to SYMPTOM TESTS .
- If scan tool displays any DTCs which begin with "U", see TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - CAVALIER & SUNFIRE article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If scan tool does not display any DTCs which begin with "U", go to next step.
- If scan tool displays P0530, go to DTC P0530: A/C PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE .
