Removal (2.2L - Aluminum)

  1. Recover the refrigerant. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the compressor hose assembly to the compressor bolt. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the compressor. Remove and discard the sealing washers.
  2. Lower the vehicle. Remove the hood close out filler panel. Reposition the cruise control module out of the way, if equipped. Remove the two nuts holding the bracket for the PCM.
  3. Position the bracket and module out of the way. Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector. Remove the nut holding the compressor hose assembly fitting to the condenser.
  4. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the condenser. See Figure. Remove and discard the O-ring seal. Remove the fitting nut for the compressor hose assembly to accumulator.
  5. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the accumulator. Remove and discard the O-ring seals. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the vehicle.
