Installation (2.4L)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install a NEW O-ring seal to the accumulator end of the compressor hose assembly. Install the compressor hose assembly and the fitting nut to the accumulator. See Fig 1. Tighten the nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Install a NEW O-ring seal to the condenser end of the compressor hose assembly. Install the compressor hose assembly to the condenser. Install the fitting nut for the compressor hose assembly to the condenser. Tighten the nut to specification.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Install NEW sealing washers on the compressor ports. Install the compressor hose assembly to the compressor. Install the bolt holding the compressor hose assembly to the compressor. Tighten the bolt to specification.
  4. Install the compressor hose assembly in the hose clip on the fan shroud. Lower the vehicle. Connect the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector. Install the cruise control module. Install the hood close out filler panel. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING.
