Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the rear split folding seat back. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear Split Folding in Seats.
  2. Remove the coat hook. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  3. Remove the front seat belt anchor bolt, and shoulder guide bolt. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Front (Sedan) or Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Front (Coupe) in Seat Belts.
  4. Use a J 38778  to remove the push-in retainer (5) from the quarter panel extension (4).

  5. Remove the quarter trim panel extension (4).
  6. With a flat-bladed tool remove the seat belt escutcheon (6) form the trim panel (3).
  7. Pull out the top of the quarter trim panel (3).
  8. Pull the trim panel (3) firmly and evenly to disengage the retainers from the inner quarter panel (1).
  9. Route the seat belt (7) through the opening in the trim panel (3).
  10. Remove the trim panel (3) from the vehicle.
