Power Door Locks Inoperative - Passenger Door (W/Keyless Entry)

1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check for the door systems? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Door Systems 
2 Verify that the power door locks are inoperative.
Does the system operate normally?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3 
3 Are all of the door locks inoperative? Go to Step 5  Go to Step 4 
4 Do the door locks operate from both of the door lock switches? Go to Step 7  Go to Step 6

  1. Remove the door lock/unlock relay.
  2. Probe the battery positive voltage circuit, to the door lock/unlock relay with a test lamp connected to ground.
Did the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the door lock switch that is not operating the system.
  2. Probe the battery positive voltage circuit, at the door lock switch connector, with a test lamp connected to ground.
Did the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 19

  1. Disconnect the inoperative door lock actuator.
  2. With a test lamp, probe the door lock actuator lock and unlock circuits, at the door lock actuator connector.
  3. Press a door lock switch to the lock and unlock position.
Did the test lamp illuminate when the door lock switch was pressed to the lock and unlock position?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 13 
8 Test the door lock actuator lock and unlock circuits for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 9 
9 Test the battery positive feed circuit to the door lock/unlock relay for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 10 
10 Test the battery positive feed circuit to the door lock/unlock relay for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 17 
11 With the door lock relay disconnected, probe the ground circuit at the door lock/unlock relay connector, with a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage.
Did the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 13  Go to Step 18 
12 Test the door lock and unlock control circuits from the disconnected door lock switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 14 
13 Test for an open in the door lock actuator lock and unlock circuits. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 16 
14 Inspect for poor connections at the door lock switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 20 
15 Inspect for poor connections at the door lock actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 21 
16 Inspect for poor connections at the relay connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 22 
17 Repair the poor connection at the Fuse Block. Refer to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 23  -
18 Repair the open in the ground circuit to the relay block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 23  -
19 Repair the open in the battery positive voltage circuit to the door lock switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 23  -
20 Replace the defective door lock switch. Refer to Power Door Lock Switch Replacement .
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 23  -
21 Replace the defective door lock actuator. Refer toLock Replacement - Front Door  or Lock Replacement - Rear Door .
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 23  -
22 Replace the defective relay. Refer to Power Door Systems Component Views .
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 23  -

  1. Replace the PWR ACC 15A Fuse if necessary.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you find and correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 2
