Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the tie rod from the steering knuckle. Refer to TIE ROD END REPLACEMENT - OUTER .
  4. If the vehicle is equipped with ABS, disconnect the ABS electrical connector.
  5. Remove the hub and bearing assembly. Refer to Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Front .
  6. Remove the bolts (3) and nuts (6) that attach the steering knuckle (4) to the strut (2).

  8. Remove the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Ball Joint Replacement .
  9. Remove the steering knuckle (4) from the vehicle.
